 Artisan Handcrafted with straps and fringes, they are made by a group of indigenous who live in La Guajira Peninsula in northern Colombia.Weaving is a traditional activity that has been passed down from their ancestors and is representative of their cultural identity. A mochila/shoulder bag/purse is a handmade bag unique to the woman who weaves it. Each mochila is hand-made by one woman and each woman has her own signature. 100% cotton.Each bag has its own character with different colors and patterns.Typical motifs are geometrical figures that represent the natural elements-animal,plants-stars. The Wayuu method of weaving is a complex form of art done entirely by hand. Their weaving knowledge is passed down from mother to daughter for generations . It takes a female between 30 to 60 days to hand weave a mochila. Love, respect for Mother Earth and ancestral wisdom are all transmitted into the weaver's needle and forever cherished in the Mochila's essence. No two will ever be exactly alike
